Hosted by AAPI Food & Wine, Opening Night features Chef Peter Cho (Han Oak PDX), in collaboration with Alice Jun (Hana Makgeolli) & CHO Wines.
AAPI Food & Wine arrives in New York City with an intimate Opening Night that celebrates heritage, craftsmanship, and the shared stories of Korean American makers shaping today’s culinary landscape.
Held at Hana Makgeolli in Brooklyn, Opening Night brings together three Korean American pioneers - Chef Peter Cho, Hana Makgeolli founder Alice Jun, and CHO Wines founders Lois and Dave Cho - for an immersive evening of Korean American bites, wine, and fermented culture.
Guests will experience a one-night-only menu: dishes reimagined through Chef Peter Cho’s New York and Portland lens, paired with the traditional method sparkling wines of CHO Wines, and anchored by the ancient artistry of Korean rice fermentation showcased through Hana Makgeolli.
This kickoff sets the tone for a weekend that amplifies the journeys of Asian Americans who have pushed beyond history and barriers to create food, wine, and craft that are unapologetically Asian and American.
Guests will enjoy a walk-around, multi-course tasting experience with substantial small plates, enjoyed standing and mingling with the makers.

AAPI Food & Wine
at Atoboy
Hosted by AAPI Food & Wine at ATOBOY.
This collaborative dinner brings together an all-star line-up of west coast AAPI culinary talent including James Beard Outstanding Restaurant Winner Langbaan’s culinary team (Chefs Earl Ninsom, Kitsanaruk Ketkuaviriyanont, Maya Okada Erickson) and James Beard Outstanding Bakery Winner JinJu Patisserie (Chef Kyurim Lee & Jin Caldwell). These west coast chefs will collaborate with the ATOBOY culinary team led by Chef Grace Kim.
At the heart of AAPI Food & Wine’s mission is a desire to challenge long-held assumptions about what foods “belong” with wine. This dinner pushes beyond Eurocentric pairings, inviting guests to experience wine through a broader cultural lens - one that reflects how a new generation actually eats and drinks today.
The multi-course menu will be enjoyed alongside wines of AAPI winemakers redefining Oregon’s Willamette Valley, including: Alexana Winery (Dr. Madaiah Revana), CHO Wines (Dave & Lois Cho), Hundred Suns (Renée St-Amour), Evening Land Vineyard (Sashi Moorman).
Guests will experience a multi-course menu that reflects the shared roots, imagination, and cultural crossroads that define this new generation of AAPI creators.
This dinner marks a new chapter in American gastronomy - where the Pacific Northwest’s deep commitment to land and ocean meets New York’s global table, and where AAPI chefs and winemakers, rooted in agriculture and place, bring those values into an urban dining landscape.
