Jane Barmore

Board Member | Vendor Relations & Events Director

Jane Barmore was born and raised in the busy world of California's Silicon Valley. Growing up, she spent afternoons watching various PBS cooking shows, primarily Julia Child and Jacques Pepin, which sparked her passion for food. This would later lead her to pursue a career in hospitality. After receiving a full scholarship and graduating Magna Cum Laude from San Francisco State University with a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, she started her professional career working in restaurants and corporate services before eventually settling into events and catering.

Her passion for food and hospitality eventually evolved to encompass a larger scope to include food history and hospitality law as well as advocacy and social justice in food systems. In the spring of 2025, she was recognized in the Oregon Senate for her advocacy work. When the pandemic hit, she turned to cooking Filipino food for solace–a homecoming that changed everything. Now, she’s building spaces where Filipino and adjacent cultures’ voices lead in the Portland food scene.

In addition to managing multiple projects, Jane currently serves as Director of Operations for SUN RICE, a Filipino-Vietnamese concept where food, music, dance, and art intersect, serving as an incubator space and hub for local community activity.
